Coping with Terrorism: Dreams Interrupted, Carole Lieberman MD, MPH

Back in November, I attended the America’s Truth Forum Conference on Terrorism in Las Vegas, NV. While there I met Dr. Carole Lieberman author of a new book, “Coping with Terrorism: Dreams Interrupted”. Dr. Lieberman is on the Clinical Faculty of the Neuropsychiatry Institute at UCLA and is a frequent contributor to 24-hour cable news outlets. Over the course of dinner we discussed our experiences with victims of terrorism and other disasters, and the continuing threat of Islam-fascism.

Coping with Terrorism is part self-help book, and part reference. Most of the book explains the background Terrorism Stress Syndrome (TSS) a form of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Dr. Lieberman uses the framework of the recent terrorist bombings in the UK as well as historical references including 9-11.

The book is extremely comprehensive in its description as well as the effects of TSS on the psyche. TSS can affect anyone involved with terrorism, from the victims to the Emergency Responders, or even observers on TV. As professionals we were able to relate some of our experiences of victims of terrorism (my experiences include the Anthrax victims at NBC). I would encourage emergency responders, counselors, teachers or anyone dealing with the public to pick up a copy of the book, study and keep it as a reference.
